The Duke Heart Center is a regional leader in promoting CPR training. Duke’s training programs emphasize compression-only CPR, now recommended instead of mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.  Call to schedule a FREE CLASS!

STEPUP’s DURHAM IMPACT LUNCHEON
StepUp staff were privileged to partner with SAS and DataKind for DataDive on 4/30th. The team analyzed over 7K StepUp records housed in Salesforce, our cloud-based relationship management system, in an effort to help us do these three things better:

- Understand StepUp participants
- Predict and prepare individuals for job readiness
- Expand our outreach to prospective program participants

Setup has begun hosting a monthly orientation for employment seekers and nonprofit partners who would like to learn more about what partnership with Setup could look like.  These “Lunch and Learn” will occur on the Thursday of every month through the end of June.

Southern Documentary Fund” – 2017 Artists Convening!
The Southern Documentary Fund’s 4th Annual Artist Convening is an extraordinary opportunity to network with industry leaders and documentarians alike!  This year’s convening will offer a master class with documentarian Carlos Sandoval (The State of Arizona), a “Mining Images” workshop and archive producer Prudence Arndt (I AM Not Your Negro), as well as classes about editing, distribution, and deal negotiation.  There will also be a speed mentoring session and a chance to win your very own fully-licensed Avid Media Composer editing software!

The Southern Documentary Fund (SDF) Annual Artists Convening take place each spring in Durham, NC.  It is a weekend of inspiring workshops, panels, and pitch session, combined with a healthy dose of community building and peer networking.

Registration is open to the documentary makers, educator, and students, and individual tickets to certain events are available to the public.  Please check the website for the convening schedule.

The Old North State Medical Society (ONSMS)
Established in 1887.  The Old North State Medical Society is the oldest medical society for African American Physicians in the United States.  Its primary interest is in educating and advocating for the most vulnerable of vulnerable patients and people residing in communities that consistently produce poorer health outcomes.

Dr. Benjamin Gonzalez, who specializes in Wellness, Functional, & Preventive Medicine at his practice, Atlantis Medical Wellness & Weight Loss, in Silver Spring, MD will offer three lectures at this 130th ONSMS Scientific Session.

Enjoy Casino Night on Friday night! Try your luck at popular casino games Blackjack, Roulette, Craps and Poker.  The Casino Night and Silent Auction are a fundraiser for the Society.
